Duck Duck Goat: The Most Fun You Can Have at a Table in Fulton Market
There are restaurants you eat at and restaurants you play at. Duck Duck Goat is firmly the second kind — a kitschy-glam maze of rooms where plates keep landing in the middle of the table, chopsticks cross, and someone always orders one more round of dumplings.
The Concept
This is Stephanie Izard territory: the Top Chef champion behind Girl & the Goat opened Duck Duck Goat with Boka Restaurant Group in 2016 as her tribute to the Chinese-American food of her childhood — reimagined with house-pulled noodles, hand-folded dumplings and a healthy sense of humor, right in the West Loop’s restaurant row.
What to Order
Build a spread: spicy sticky wings, moo shu with shrimp and bacon, grilled beef and broccoli that upgrades the takeout classic, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and hongshao rou — glossy red-braised pork belly. Crab rangoon is the table’s icebreaker; crispy banana dumplings and baobing soft serve close the show.
The Space
Vintage fans, thrifted treasures, honey-toned banquettes and a warm red-and-beige glow that flatters everyone’s photos. A tearoom hides toward the back, Peking ducks hang theatrically in view of diners, and the patio catches the Fulton Market evening buzz.
