Epoch Studio Salon — green hair salon in Wicker Park
Epoch began in 2010 as a two-chair side hustle in the corner of a Wicker Park film studio, started by three friends — Stephanie Ostby, Ben Mahoney and Beth Stock Schindler. It grew into one of the neighborhood’s best-loved salons, an inclusive, sustainability-minded studio where every guest is celebrated.
Services
The salon is a hair-extension specialist, and also covers cuts, dimensional color, balayage and blonding, keratin smoothing and curly-hair services. Consultations shape each visit, from a full transformation to everyday upkeep.
Technology & brands
Color and care run on Redken, Amika and R+Co, with Bellami for the salon’s signature extensions. As a certified sustainable Green Circle Salon, Epoch diverts waste and chemicals from landfill — 1,251 pounds in 2025 alone — while keeping tools and stations clean between clients.
Team & masters
Co-owner Beth Stock Schindler — head stylist and makeup artist, and one of the three founders — leads the team, which is trained across extensions, color and curly hair and works to the salon’s inclusive, guest-first culture.
