The beginning
Hillary was born on October 26, 1947, in Chicago. In time, the girl would recall that it was her parents who did everything possible to make her believe in herself. Her mother had a strong influence on the girl’s future. Dorothy, the girl’s mother, did not have the opportunity to go to college. But she gave Hillary the faith that she could do anything. In the spring of 1962, Martin Luther King, one of the most famous American figures of that time, spoke in Chicago. After his speech about civil rights and the great future of America, he shook hands with Hillary, who was 15 years old at the time. It was this meeting that became decisive for the girl.
Interestingly, the future female politician was not always a Democrat. At school, she was a member of the Young Republicans organization and even participated in Barry Goldwater’s campaign. At the time, she was too young to vote for her candidate. She would later recall that it was Goldwater’s rugged individualism that she liked. Hillary’s political views changed after entering college. Already in 1972, they took part in supporting the presidential campaign of George McGovern. This politician was very active in criticizing the U.S. military actions in Vietnam in an open manner. But he was just as open about the fact that America would not be able to win this battle. Two years later, in 1974, a phone call rang in Hillary and Bill’s home. An old acquaintance offered them a job that could not only change their lives, but also become a good impetus for starting a political career. The caller was John Doar, who at the time was heading the impeachment investigation. He was talking about investigating a corruption scandal that not only went down in history but also resulted in the resignation of President Nixon.
At the same time, Bill was running for governor, so he immediately declined the offer. But Hillary accepted the job and, at the age of 26, joined a team of specialists who gathered evidence for the second impeachment of a president in U.S. history.
Married life and the thorny path to the White House
After Nixon’s resignation, Hillary faced a rather difficult choice, a political career in Washington or her beloved husband in Arkansas. She chose love and began teaching law at the university where her husband worked, who unfortunately lost the governorship by 6,000 votes. The young people got married in 1975. Hillary became a partner in a law firm. Bill first became the Attorney General, and then eventually won the governorship of Arkansas. While Bill was governor, Hillary took an active part in the work of the administration. She later was his great support during his run for president. Scandals
During his first term as president, rumors of real estate-related abuses continued to surround Bill Clinton and his wife. Even an independent investigation was conducted. But no evidence was found. In November 2006, when Hillary was re-elected as a senator, she turned her attention to the White House again. She began to actively campaign for the presidential nomination in the Democratic Party. Her past experience allowed her to quickly establish the necessary connections. However, her tenure in high office was not without its problems.
In 2012, 4 Americans were killed in the Libyan consulate, including the U.S. ambassador. The responsibility for this tragedy was placed on the Secretary of State, i.e., Hillary. In 2013, she left office and resigned, but the investigation continued. Although the investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing by Mrs. Clinton, they did find that Hillary had used personal email servers to correspond with officials. Thus, Clinton was once again at the center of a scandal. It was only in 2016 that the FBI concluded that there was no reason to file formal charges, but her opponents continued to push for her arrest.
But in 2015, Hillary decided to try to get into the White House again. She quickly became the favorite of the Democratic Party. But she had a serious competitor, Bernie Sanders, who gained the support of young people. Mrs. Clinton managed to become the official presidential candidate.
Her rival from the Republicans was Donald Trump. Political campaigns were quite difficult for both of them. Unfortunately, Trump beat her in the election.
